PANASONIC NV-GS 250

· 3CCD Camera System

· Mega Optical Image Stabilier (O.I.S)

· Leica Dicomar Lens with Low Dispersion Glass

· 3.1 Megapixel Still Picture Recording

. Crystal Engine

Features & Benefits
3CCD Camera System
The camera's CCD (charge-coupled device) plays a critical role in picture quality. That's why Panasonic chose a 3CCD camera system - the type used in professional video cameras. In this advanced system the incident light is split into its three primary colour components (red, green and blue), and the resulting signal from each is collected by one of the three CCDs. The GS250's 3CCD system features a total of 800,000 pixels times 3. It captures moving pictures with an effective 630,000 pixels times 3 and still pictures with an effective 710,000 pixels times 3, which provides highly detailed colour information. Compared with conventional 1CCD camera systems,Panasonic's advanced 3CCD system gives you greater beauty three different ways: in colour, detail, and gradation.

Mega O.I.S (Optical Image Stabiliser)
The MEGA O.I.S. system takes O.I.S. technology a step further by adding a sensitivity selector. This allows MEGA O.I.S. to provide about twice*1 as much hand-shake correction when shooting still pictures as Std. O.I.S. provides with moving pictures.

Leica Dicomar Lens
Leica is renowned by photographers everywhere as a maker of superb cameras and lenses. Now this legendary optical technology fuses with Panasonic's advanced digital technology in the Leica Dicomar lens. The GS250's brilliant new lens features 13 lens elements in 9 groups and uses low-dispersion optical glass to reduce chromatic aberration to about 1/3 the level of conventional lenses. A special multi-coating process is applied to 14 lens surfaces, minimising harmful reflection to deliver crisp, clear images free of flare and ghosting.

trademark of Leica Camera AG.

Manual Focus Ring
Positioned at the front of the lens barrel, the manual focus ring has a non-slip, sure-grip surface for easy operation and quick response when a photo opportunity pops up. It ensures professional-style operation and enhances creativity.

Direct Mode Dial
Easy-to-understand icons indicate the modes for both tape and card recording and playback. Just rotate the dial with your fingertip to select the icon that corresponds to the mode you want.

Soft Skin Detail
This function detects skin tones and softens the focus in those areas, making complexions look more attractive. Wrinkles and lines seem to disappear.

Tele Macro Mode
Just press a button and you're ready to shoot macro close-ups of subjects a mere 40 cm from the lens. The subject will have a clear, sharp focus, while the background focus is softened.

Power LCD
Simply press the Power LCD button and the LCD becomes brighter, making it easier to see outdoors or in other bright locations. Also, a new scanning technology allows the LCD to show diagonal lines more sharply.

3.1 Megapicel Still Picture Recording
The GS250 features Quad-Density Pixel Distribution, a technology used in Panasonic's professional equipment. By distributing the pixels at intervals measured in submicrons, this technology makes it possible to position four times as many pixels as in a conventional CCD. As a result, the GS250 records 3.1-megapixel still pictures. It captures all of the
outstanding detail, colour and sensitivity made possible by the 3CCD camera system.

USB 2.0 (HS Mode) / DV Sata Streaming via USB.
USB 2.0 compatibility gives you high-speed uploading of DV data to a PC over a single USB cable. Video Class compatibility allows real-time transfer of DV moving picture data over the same USB cable. The included MotionDV STUDIO 5.3 LE*2 application makes it easy to edit DV footage, so you can create your own polished, professional looking movies for keepsakes.

Crystal Engine
· 3D RGB Frame Noise Reduction - The noise reduction system uses a noise-shaping filter (first dimension) to remove the rough, highly visible noise. Next, it extracts and analyses data from several adjacent pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions (second dimension), and removes any parts that it determines to be noise. Finally, the process is applied to the time axis (third dimension), where it extracts and analyses several frames, and again removes parts that it determines to be noise. The result is a better noise-reduction performance than conventional systems provide. The noise reduction is particularly effective when shooting at low illumination, so you can capture clear, sharp images even at night or when lights are low.

· AXIS (Advanced Pixel Interpolation System) - Quad-Density Pixel Distribution technology improves image precision by interpolating the signal for areas on the CCD where there are no pixels. AXIS helps reproduce even finely detailed portions of an image, giving the picture a higher-resolution appearance.

· Digital Signal Processing - This new configuration consists of two separate image processing circuits, one for moving pictures, one for still pictures. Using the optimum circuit for each type of picture makes it possible to record both with outstanding quality.

High Picture Quality Wide Mode (16:9)
With this new mode you can shoot pictures that look beautiful even on a large, wide-screen TV. It uses the same aspect ratio as wide-screen TVs right from the recording stage, and it minimizes the vertical zoom ratio to boost vertical resolution.

Simultaneous Motion Video-Still Picture Recording
World's first camera to record moving pictures and 1.2-megapixel still pictures at the same time* Now you can have it both ways. When you're shooting a moving picture and you see a great scene, you can snap off a still shot.

· 30 x Optical Zoom

· Built in LED Light

· Colour Viewfinder

· USB 2.0 (High Speed Mode) Compatibility

· One Touch Navigation & Joystick Control

Features & Benefits
One Touch Navigation and Joystick Control
The joystick makes the camera much easier to use, letting you control all basic operations with one hand. As you shoot, just watch the image in the monitor and follow the instruction guide. You can handle a number of operations quickly and easily, without even taking your eye off the subject.

USB 2.0 (HS Mode) / DV Data Streaming via USB
USB 2.0 High Speed Mode compatilbility lets you transfer DV data to a PC over a single USB cable. Because the system conforms to the USB Video Class standard, you can also transfer data in real time!

MotionDV STUDIO 5.3LE Software
With MotionDV STUDIO, you can load images right into your PC for super-easy non-linear editing, add special effects, and dub in a soundtrack - all on a single, easy-to-see screen. MotionDV STUDIO lets you make home movies with high quality, it makes you a real professional!

Built-in LED Light
Yes, you have that perfect shot to take and all of a sudden the sky was overcast with dark clouds and with exasperation, you know you may not be able to capture that perfect view.

Panasonic knows that when illumination is insufficient, it is a painful situation to be in. With our built-in LED Video light and colour night view, you can now take crisp, colourful movies. The LED (light emitting diode) has low power consumption, long service life, and the safety of a low operating temperature. Colour Night View gives you smoothly flowing pictures even in dark places, where it's normally difficult to capture good shots. And because the S.I.S. (Super Image Stabiliser) corrects for hand-shake, you get beautiful pictures with minimal after images.

Pure Colour Engine
The Pure Colour Engine LSI converts the CCD output signal from a complementary colour signal into RGB signal (containing the three primary colours in light) at an early stage
and extracts the low-frequency luminance component from the RGB signal. The luminance signal is then generated in the same way as in TV broadcasting. Advanced 3D Frame Noise Reduction also gives you better results when shooting with low illumination because it improves colour noise-reduction performance by 30% compared with conventional systems. This innovative LSI achieves truly superb colour reproduction.
